Battling Lawn Moss
Moss is perhaps the most common enemy of the British lawn. It thrives in damp, shaded conditions and areas where the grass is sparse or weak. If left untreated, moss can quickly outcompete your grass, turning a lush lawn into a spongy, uneven mess.
Why does moss grow?
- Poor drainage: Waterlogged soil creates the perfect damp environment.
- Shade: Areas under trees or next to walls struggle to grow strong grass.
- Mowing too short: Scalping the lawn weakens the grass, allowing moss to take over.
